A flowered hoodie, rifle and holdup; police search for female suspect who committed armed robbery.

So a woman walks into a convenience store wearing a flowered hoodie and wielding a rifle…

But wait.

There’s no punchline at the end of that statement, which reads more like a bad joke than a serious incident that happened early Friday morning in Stephenville when a woman walked into Cefco demanding money.

Captain James Gresham with the Stephenville Police Department told Beneath the Surface News that police received a call about the armed robbery around 1 a.m. on Friday.

“The clerk was inside the store taking care of business and the woman walked in, pointed a gun and demanded money,” Gresham said. “It happened pretty fast.”

Gresham said the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. (He wouldn’t tell me how much.)

“We are pursuing several leads and detectives are running them all down,” he said.

Gresham said the woman appears to be relatively young and took some effort to disguise her appearance.

She was wearing glasses, gloves and black shoes.

“We have no info on if she was traveling on foot or by vehicle or if she was alone,” Gresham said. “It’s unusual for a woman to commit an armed robbery like this.”

But here we are.
