Two of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society are Alexie and Alexa.

These female Lab mixes arrived at the shelter with five other dogs after their owner passed away.

“Alexie is eight or nine years old and is shy and sweet,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.

“She walks good on a leash and does well in her kennel overnight. She does okay in a car, but sometimes needs help up. Stairs are not for her; they make her nervous.

“She has been good with other dogs while here at the shelter, but I’m not sure how she is with cats or livestock.”

Alexie is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped. She is heartworm positive, but is on a slow kill treatment and will need to be kept on heartworm prevention.

Alexa is a sweet six to seven-year-old that also does well on a leash and enjoys riding in cars.

“She whines and barks when she is in a crate and has been good with big dogs, but isn't a fan of small ones.”

“These ladies are super lovable and like being together, but they do not have to be adopted together,” Serena said.

Landry is an 11-month-old female domestic shorthair.

“She is a very sweet girl that loves attention,” Serena said. “She likes to lounge around, but sometimes gets the ‘zoomies’ and loves to play with toys.”

Landry is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and litter box trained.
