Amayla Kennels: Your pet's ‘home away from home.’

Updated: 3 days ago

Amayla Kennels

You love your furry friends, which is why it’s so important to find good care for them when you’re gone.

Amayla Kennels has been boarding dogs since 2017, but opened a new facility in Erath County in March 2024 and it’s the “home away from home” your dog or cat needs.

The new facility, which features 30 indoor/outdoor kennels for dogs and five kennels for cats in a separate space, has temperature-controlled settings and raised Kuranda beds.

Owners Paul and Amy Wise live on site and have raised dogs since 1994.

“We show all over the country,” Amy told Beneath the Surface News. “We built our first kennel for our show dogs in 2017 and started offering the extra space for boarding.

“It just blew up from there. We had no idea there was such a need for this.”

Amayla Kennels is located on Hwy. 281 between Hico and Stephenville.

Dogs are never locked inside and can use a door to go outside to use the bathroom and each kennel has an automatic water bowl that keeps water fresh.

“The bowls are cleaned and sanitized every day,” Amy said. “We don’t co-mingle our dogs, but we do take them out individually every day to play and get some exercise.”

Amayla Kennels also offers grooming on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and some weekends.

“Our groomer is trained in dog show grooming,” Amy said.

The cost to board is $30 per night for the first dog and $25 for each additional dog in the same kennel.

Amayla Kennels is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
