Amazon is coming to Stephenville.

The company is set to close on a 12-acre piece of property located between Atwoods and Tractor Supply with plans to build a new distribution center.

Jeff Sandford, president of the Stephenville Economic Development Authority, told Beneath the Surface News that he has been working with Amazon to finalize the deal since February.

“We have truly been impressed with their professionalism and commitment to excellence throughout the process,” Sandford said.

“From corporate personnel to their highly- skilled development team, they have respected our local needs and expectations. We look forward to this addition to the local economy.”

Construction on the 45,000 square foot facility is expected to begin within 30 days of closing and be complete within four to six months.

The new facility will also bring approximately 100 jobs to the area.

“This addition of such a respected, global partner to the local economic landscape serves to amplify Stephenville’s continued growth trajectory,” Sandford said.

“Amazon’s significant capital investment and job creation will make a positive impact on our community.”

Mayor Doug Svien called the move “great” for Stephenville and city administrator Jason King said city officials are excited to work with a company like Amazon.

“I think they will be great partners with the community moving forward,” King said.
