Arrow M Ironworks: Local blacksmith makes quality, hand-forged barbecue tools, fireplace sets and custom branding irons.
If you’re looking for a unique gift this holiday season, look no further than Arrow M Ironworks, a family-owned business that makes blacksmith quality products like hand-forged barbecue tools, fireplace sets, home décor and custom branding irons.
Owner Clay Montgomery stepped into the business after retiring.
“I’ve always been fascinated with the way things used to be done,” Clay told Beneath the Surface News. “I like to smoke my own hams and do things the way our ancestors did them.”
Arrow M Enterprises got its start after Clay decided to “slow down” in retirement.
“I lasted about two weeks before I started to lose my mind, so I built a little forge and I went from working when I wanted to working seven days a week.”
Today, the Mingus-based business is booming with custom orders.
“I recently engraved a custom spatula that says ‘Bob’s Burgers’ because he is known for his hamburgers,” Clay said.
Customers have asked Clay to engrave everything from ranch brands to initials on his hand-forged products.
In fact, one of his biggest customers is the Four Sixes Ranch. How cool is that?
When shopping for that hard-to-buy-for person, consider a grilling box set that includes a spatula, fork, spoon, ladle and steak turner for $225.
“We can engrave the spatula or engrave a metal tag for the box,” Clay said.
And the custom-designed fireplace sets come with a shovel (that can also be engraved), a handtied broom and ceramic coating to keep it from rusting.
