Baked: This Granbury bakery sells unique pastries like mouth-watering house-made poptarts.
Updated: Apr 8
I’ve always loved a good poptart. The ones from the box with the little sprinkles on top have always satisfied my sweet tooth, until Saturday.
That’s the day I finally made it over to Baked Bread & Pastry Co. in Granbury and everything I thought I knew about poptarts was forever changed.
I first heard about Baked more than a year ago when my friend Kari told me about their amazing pastries.
After spending the night at a lake house with friends on Friday, we rolled out of bed Saturday morning and headed straight to Baked to get breakfast.
Now I have no idea why we waited so long.
Baked is located off the beaten path in Granbury (behind Grumps Burgers).
The quaint restaurant has a small dining room with covered patio and twinkle lights and smells like you were dropped straight into pastry heaven.
Everything - from French croissants and sourdoughs to bagels, breakfast sandwiches and soups – is made from scratch, and if you get there at just the right time like we did, you might catch one of their talented bakers making bread through two large windows overlooking the boulangerie.
Our order included the Baja Sandwich (scrambled eggs, bacon, Swiss and mixed greens served on a fresh butter croissant), yogurt bowl (from Armagh Creamery topped with granola, fresh fruit and honey), poptarts and a strawberry danish.
And you better believe that we scarfed it all down without a care in the world about the carb count.
But it was those life-changing poptarts that I’m still thinking about.
I cannot explain how delicious they are.
When you go to Baked, get there early. We were there just minutes after it opened on Saturday and there was already a line out the door.
Baked also serves a variety of soups and sandwiches for lunch and I will be making my way back for a grill cheese.
You should go.
