Beneath the Book Club discussion: The Boyfriend by Frieda McFadden was a fast-paced mystery I totally loved.

Some books are a slow burn.

Others, like most by Frieda McFadden, are fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat thrillers meant for pure entertainment.

And that’s exactly what Beneath the Book Clubbers got with its November book, The Boyfriend.

The story centered on Sydney Shaw, a single woman living in New York, who has terrible luck with dating.

Then she meets Tom, a charming, handsome doctor who sweeps her off her feet.

But a string of brutal murders of young women has Sydney worried (and for good reason) that her new boyfriend is too good to be true.

I finished this book in less than 24 hours; it’s that entertaining.

And the ending? Well, you’ll never see it coming.

If you enjoy a good mystery, you’ll love it too.

I give it an 8.
