Beneath the Book Club’s February picks are edge-of-your-seat thrillers, including the latest by Freida McFadden.

I know, I know, with Valentine’s Day looming, we should be diving into a heady romance this month.

But I just couldn’t do it.

My instincts tell me we all need a good thriller, and with the release of Freida McFadden’s latest novel, I couldn’t resist.

The Crash was just released this week, but all three books sound great and I can’t wait to see which one you choose.

Let’s go!

Book 1: The Crash by Freida McFadden

WHAT AMAZON SAYS: “The nightmare she’s running from is nothing compared to where she’s headed.

“Tegan is eight months pregnant, alone, and desperately wants to put her crumbling life in the rearview mirror. So she hits the road, planning to stay with her brother until she can figure out her next move.

“But she doesn’t realize she’s heading straight into a blizzard.“She never arrives at her destination.

“Stranded in rural Maine with a dead car and broken ankle, Tegan worries she’s made a terrible mistake. Then a miracle occurs: she is rescued by a couple who offers her a room in their warm cabin until the snow clears.

“But something isn’t right. Tegan believed she was waiting out the storm, but as time ticks by, she comes to realize she is in grave danger.

“This safe haven isn’t what she thought it was, and staying here may have been her most deadly mistake yet.

“And now she must do whatever it takes to save herself—and her unborn child.“A gut-wrenching story of motherhood, survival, and twisted expectations, #1 New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden delivers a snowbound thriller that will chill you to the bone.”

Book 2: The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia

Editor’s pick: Best mystery, thriller and suspense

WHAT AMAZON SAYS: “Stephanie and Jasmine have nothing and everything in common.

“The two women don’t know each other but are on the same plane. Stephanie is on a business trip and Jasmine is fleeing an abusive relationship.

“After a few days, they text their friends the same exact messages about the same man—the messages becoming stranger and more erratic.

“And then the two women vanish. The texts go silent, the red flags go up, and the panic sets in. When Stephanie and Jasmine are each declared missing and in danger, it begs the questions: Who is Trent McCarthy? What did he do to these women— or what did they do to him?

“Twist upon twist, layer upon layer, where nothing is as it seems, The Business Trip takes you on a descent into the depths of a mastermind manipulator.

“But who is playing who?”

Book 3: Don’t Let Her Stay by Nicola Sanders

No. 1 best seller in literature and fiction.

WHAT AMAZON SAYS: “It seemed only five minutes ago that Richard went to the station to pick up Chloe, and now they were here. I was so excited.

“Finally, I would meet my stepdaughter for the first time, and Chloe would meet her baby sister Evie.

“Richard was over the moon that his daughter wanted to come back into his life. ‘You’ll love her,’ he'd said, beaming. ‘She’s very sweet. She just had a wobble about me marrying again, but that’s over now.’

“Well, she was going to find out she had nothing to worry about. I’d been fantasizing non-stop about the two of us becoming close. I had visions of us baking together while Richard was at work, chatting about her boyfriends, her studies, what kind of job she’d like to do...

“Anyway, let’s just say things haven’t quite worked out that way.

“Whenever we’re alone, Chloe makes it clear that she hates me. But in front of her father, she’s a perfect little angel. Richard says I’m not giving her a chance, but he doesn’t see what I see.

“I don’t trust Chloe, and I certainly won’t leave her alone with Evie.

“Because I know something isn’t right with Chloe, and I will do everything possible to protect my family.

“Before it’s too late…”
