Bye, bye bad guy: Stephenville police arrest man on Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list.
A man on Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list was taken into custody by the Stephenville Police Department on Tuesday night.
Joseph Darwin Watson, 52, of Hamilton, had been on the run since October 2020 after failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
He was convicted of two counts of aggravated assault involving a 5-year-old boy in Llano County and sexual assault of a 47-year-old woman in Milam County.
Captain Jeff Walker told Beneath the Surface News that Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray received a tip that Watson was hiding in the area and alerted the SPD.
Officers located Watson inside an apartment in Stephenville and took him into custody without incident, Walker said.
Watson is a little guy, just 5’3” tall and 120 pounds, but he is described as a “high risk” sex offender.
The state was offering a $3,000 award for his capture.
“Teamwork in law enforcement is what it’s all about,” Stephenville Police Chief Dan Harris said. “The men and women of the Dublin and Stephenville police departments worked together to remove a dangerous sex offender from our community.
“I could not be more proud of them.”
