Erath County receives more than $75k to supplement food and shelter programs. Here’s how local agencies can apply for funding.
Special to Beneath the Surface News
Erath County has been chosen by the Department of Homeland Security to receive $75,391 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs.
The program distributes funds appropriated by congress to expand the capacity for food and shelter in high-need areas around the country.
Grant recipients can use the funds to supplement and extend existing resources and fill gaps in services between Oct. 1, 2022 and Dec. 31, 2024 and cannot supplement or replace funds from other sources already budgeted.
Erath County United Way will determine how the funds are awarded and distribute them among emergency food and shelter programs in the area.
Under the terms of the grant, local agencies chosen to receive funds must:
1. Be private, voluntary non-profits or units of government.
2. Be eligible to receive federal funds.
3. Have an accounting system.
4. Practice non-discrimination.
5. Have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs.
6. If they are a private voluntary organization, have a voluntary board and meet all other criteria specified in the EFSP manual.
To receive an application, email ECUW executive director Lisa Scroggins at director@erathcountyuw.org.
The deadline to apply is 1 p.m. Aug. 27.
