Erath County welcomes newly-elected officials in New Year’s Day swearing-in ceremony.
Erath County kicked off 2025 on Wednesday with a swearing-in ceremony for newly-elected officials at the Donald R. Jones Justice Center in Stephenville.
The oath of office was given by District Court Judge Jason Cashon to new county attorney Bethany Espinoza, who replaces Lisa Pence, and new tax assessor/collector Valerie Stephen who replaces Jennifer Carey.
“I am excited and ready to continue serving the public as your next TAC,” Valerie Stephen told Beneath the Surface News. “Cheers to the new year and to the future of the Erath County Tax Office.”
Other elected officials who took the oath of office on New Year’s Day include sheriff Matt Coates, constables Ryan Gibson and Jason Schipper, commissioners Sherman Edwards and Dee Stephens and district attorney Alan Nash.
