Firehouse Subs opens in Stephenville, becoming first restaurant to open in Washington Commons.

Updated: Nov 25, 2022

Firehouse Subs is set to open in Stephenville on Wednesday, Nov. 23, becoming the first restaurant in Washington Commons.

The gourmet sub shop is located next to James Avery in the city’s new retail center, which includes Hobby Lobby, Old Navy, Ulta and Ross, and will be open from 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m.

Firehouse Subs specializes in a variety of delicious subs like the Spicy Cajun Chicken, Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket, Sweet and Spicy Meatball, New York Steamer (corned beef brisket and pastrami), Hook and Ladder (served “fully involved” with smoked turkey breast and Virginia ham) and the Engineer (smoked turkey breast, melted swiss and sauteed mushrooms).

If you’re wondering about the nod to the firehouse, the restaurant chain was founded in 1994 by two brothers – Chris and Robin Sorenson – who were firefighters.

In fact, the new restaurant treated local firefighters to lunch on Tuesday. How cool is that?

Firehouse Subs has over 1,200 restaurants in 48 states, and today, they are adding one more.
