Fundraiser to benefit local nurse practitioner diagnosed with rare brain tumor.
Updated: Nov 19, 2023
Friends and family of Kim Chaplin are planning a day of fun to raise money for her upcoming medical bills and related expenses.
After experiencing a rapid change in her vision in April, Kim was diagnosed with a brain tumor doctors believe is petroclival meningioma, a benign and slow-growing tumor that occurs deep within the center of the skull base.
These rare types of tumors are hard to reach because of their location and Kim’s has caused her to lose vision in her right eye.
“She’s good and she is staying super positive,” her sister Annette Storrs told Beneath the Surface News.
Kim is scheduled for brain surgery on Nov. 30 and is facing a possible second surgery.
Meanwhile, lots of preparation is going into her fundraiser.
The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, at Legends Country Club in Stephenville.
There will be Hard 8 BBQ with sides, drinks and dessert for donation as well as a silent auction, bake sale and putting contest.
Kim, a mother of two, graduated from Stephenville High School and Tarleton State University. She is a nurse practitioner at VB Orthopaedics.
