George Washington is heading to Stephenville for Constitution Week! Here’s where you can find him.

Mark Collins will play George Washington in Stephenville this week.

George Washington is expected to arrive in Stephenville this week to commemorate the signing of the United States Constitution.

George will arrive on Thursday, Sept. 14, to speak at several Erath County Schools.

(It’s not the real George Washington, of course. He passed away in 1799, but you already knew that.)

This George Washington is played by actor Mark Collins who portrayed the former president in The Revolution, a 2006 13-part miniseries on The History Channel.

Collins happens to be good friends with Lance Bennett, owner of Stephenville’s new Chick-fil-A restaurant.

“Mark (Collins) speaks around the country as George Washington,” Lance wrote in an email to city officials. “A few years ago, he was invited to speak about our country's founding to governmental organizations in Kenya and Zimbabwe.

“For several years now, we have invited him to give presentations to local schools and sign constitutions at our restaurant.”

If you’d like to catch up with George during his visit to Stephenville, he’ll be signing constitutions at Chick-fil-A from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.

Constitution Week is an American observance to commemorate the 1787 adoption of the United States Constitution.
