HJH student heading to Austin to take part in Lone Star Leadership Academy camp.

Sydney Koplin

A student at Henderson Junior High School in Stephenville has been selected to participate in the Lone Star Leadership Academy camp in Austin and San Antonio after being nominated by one of her teachers, Shea Bloemhof.

Sydney Koplin will join a delegation of outstanding students from across the state to develop leadership skills, learn about the history of Texas and meet state legislators.

She will visit historic sites like the Alamo, Texas State Cemetery, Supreme Court of Texas, the LBJ Library and the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment.

She will also go bat watching on the Lone Star Riverboat and work with a team to decode an escape room.

Sydney was selected based on her academic and leadership success and community involvement.

She is the daughter of Detective Jeff Koplin and Lesli Koplin, a math teacher at HJH.
