Tarleton State University recently celebrated the signing of the Nancy White Crouch Endowed Scholarship, established by her daughter Julie Smith, family members and friends.

“This permanently endowed fund will support aspiring teachers who graduated from a high school in Erath County and have been admitted to the teacher education program in the Tarleton State University College of Education,” said Mike Skaggs, director of Development College of Education.

A graduate of Dublin High School, Tarleton State College and Texas Christian University, Nancy was a beloved 7th grade history teacher in Stephenville ISD for 30 years.

Her students took part in special projects and raised money for the Stephenville Historical House Museum, Battleship Texas and the Statue of Liberty.

Additionally, Nancy and her colleagues were the first to take Stephenville Junior High School students to Washington, D.C.

Nancy received many teaching and community awards throughout her career, but her highest honor was making a difference in young lives.

After retiring from teaching, Nancy was a university teaching supervisor for Tarleton.
