Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS) is gearing up for a big event next weekend in Bluff Dale.
The animal rescue group will host Pickin’ for Pups starting at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Greenwood Saloon.
“We are a very small group of volunteers dedicated to helping unwanted and abandoned animals,” Amanda Nicholson, president of PAWS, told Beneath the Surface News.
“Although we are based in Stephenville, we cover about 3,000 square miles of rural Texas, spanning from Brownwood to Tolar, Lipan to Hamilton and everywhere in between.
“We are doing this fundraiser with CAPA (Comanche All Pets Alive). Last year our small little group along with CAPA helped save over 300 pets and we are already on track to double those numbers.”
The event will include music and a silent auction.
“We will have pictures and profiles of all the adoptable animals,” Amanda said.
Big ticket items in the silent auction include a signed guitar by Ray Wylie Hubbard, $500 gift certificate from Texan Tattoo, cases of pork chops and flat iron steaks and handmade jewelry.
There will also be raffles and door prizes throughout the afternoon.
