Updated: Oct 24, 2022

The Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that 22 veterans commit suicide every day in America.

It’s a daunting statistic; one that Clayton Iley and his team at Texas Legacy Insurance Group couldn’t ignore.

Now, for the second year in a row, the group is planning to host Project 22’s S.A.V.E.D. Challenge at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, at Kinect Fitness.

Project 22 was designed to bring awareness and resources to veterans and the public with a mission to reduce and eventually end the 22 veterans losing their battle to suicide every day,” Clayton told Beneath the Surface News.

The all-terrain S.A.V.E.D. (saving a veteran every day) Challenge will include military-style obstacles like a camo mesh crawl, wall climb, ammo can carry and Humvee pull with divisions for women, men and coeds and two course options to accommodate any fitness level.

The Civilian Course is suitable for beginners and the Hero Course will speak to the fitness junkies; prizes will be awarded to the winners of each.

The cost to enter is $22 per person and participants receive a T-shirt and really great workout. Register online now by clicking here.

“This year’s proceeds benefit families of local veterans to ensure they have a magical Christmas,” Jenny Iley said.

SPONSORSHIPS AND RAFFLES

The S.A.V.E.D Challenge gives local businesses a unique opportunity for sponsorships: $200 General Rank and $100 Private Rank.

Raffle tickets for a Ruger AR 15 are on sale for $25 each or five for $100 (only 222 will be sold) with the drawing scheduled to be held Dec. 1.

And if you’ve ever dreamed of owning your own Humvee, you can purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win one for only $100.

Tickets go on sale beginning Veterans Day, Nov. 11, and the drawing will be held in one year - Nov. 11, 2023 – with only 1,000 tickets sold.
