Stephenville’s new mural pays homage to the Cowboy Capital of the World.

Stephenville’s new mural couldn’t be located at a better spot.

The big brown cowboy boot with an outline of the state of Texas etched on its side is painted on the front of City Hall right across the street from the downtown plaza.

“It’s a boot to commemorate the Cowboy Capital of the World and the local cowboys and cowgirls who have made a significant impact on the industry,” Darrell Brown, the city’s director of administrative services, told Beneath the Surface News.

“And it’s pointed straight at the Cowboy Walk of Fame.”

The mural was painted by Leighton Autrey, an artist who grew up in Stephenville.
