Stephenville’s new sushi/hibachi bar is all we had hoped for and I can’t wait to go back.

The days of driving to Granbury for a sushi or hibachi fix are over.

We finally made it to Poseidon this week and the new Japanese restaurant located in Stephenville’s Washington Commons is everything I hoped it would be: Warm and inviting with a casual upscale vibe that makes you want to put on something pretty for dinner.

We went a little early Wednesday night so we could enjoy a cocktail at the bar before having dinner and heading to the Tarleton basketball game. By the time we left, every table was taken and there was a wait to be seated.

The restaurant does take reservations for the hibachi, but you have to call it in. (The online reservation system still has a few kinks that need to be worked out.) The dining room operates on a first-come, first served basis.

The hibachi was fun with the usual entertainment you would expect to find. Think fire and twirling knives and one server proved to be pretty adept with the ukulele.

But it was the food that was the star of the show. If you’re a sushi lover, you’ll be in heaven. There is a fantastic selection of specialty rolls (we got the Shaky Dog and the Poseidon and both were delicious).

The hibachi entrée was equally great, and if you can’t decide what to order, try one of the deluxe combos.

I predict that Poseidon will quickly become one of Stephenville’s most popular eateries.

The employees are friendly and attentive, but the restaurant is still not fully staffed, so be patient when you go.

You will love it.
