The wait is over.

The Jon Young Band finally released its long awaited fourth studio album, “Apokalypsis,” streaming on all platforms beginning Friday, Nov. 1.

“Apokalypsis” is a concept record written almost entirely during the lockdown phase of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic and follows the journey of a man coming to grips with life in a world on the constant brink of destruction.

“The new album has 13 tracks and is a concept album,” Jon Young told Beneath the Surface News.

“The tracks flow into each other to tell a story. We recorded it outside of Fredericksburg, Texas at a studio called Loma Ranch, which is owned by famous 60s and 70s Texas artist John Loma and has been a staple of the Austin country scene for 50 years.

“We worked with producer Taylor Tatsch to build the tracks and then connect them.”

“Apokalypsis” digs deep, exposing the feelings of fear and isolation that most people experienced while watching the world unravel into political and social unrest.

“The thing that sets this album apart from the rest of our catalogue is its honesty,” Jon said. “I really dug deep into some pretty intense emotions and experiences to craft a story that I think people will really be able to relate to.”

When asked to name a favorite song from the album, Jon said, “Picking a favorite song is like trying to pick your favorite child… always hard and almost impossible.

“That being said, one of my favorites from this new album is a track called ‘Enemy.’

“It was written around the time of the BLM protests in 2021. The song is a cry for peace with the chorus line, ‘Are you listening? I’m not your enemy.’

“The end of the song breaks into a full-blown riot with the music eventually taking over and building into a beautiful melody representing the peace and love we are capable of.”
