Nicholas Ferroni once said, “Educators are the only people who lose sleep over other people’s kids.”

And it was in that spirit that Farmers Insurance agent Leslie Walker and her team chose an educator as November’s Hometown Hero.

Stephanie Childs is a kindergarten teacher at Central Elementary and learned about the honor on Wednesday.

“She has been teaching kids for 17 years,” Leslie told Beneath the Surface News. “She has a caring heart and serves as a mentor to countless children.”

When she is not inside the classroom, Stephanie enjoys gardening, crafting, trying new restaurants and listening to music.

She and her husband Mike Childs, the director of bands at Stephenville High School, have two children.

Stephanie received a gift basket filled with goodies donated by the Stephenville Downtown Merchants and Pinspiration as well as treats for her co-workers.
