This sweet girl spent the last 2 years chained up outside; now she needs a loving home.
One of this week’s featured pets up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society is Baby, a three-year-old spayed female Husky/Great Pyrenees mix.
“Baby was adopted in 2022 and returned due to the owner moving,” ECHS executive director Serena Wright told Beneath the Surface News.
“She has spent the last two years chained outside and has not been an inside dog. If she is to be an inside dog, she will need patience and time to learn.”
Baby is good with other dogs, but cannot be around small animals like cats or birds.
She is very people oriented and does great with strangers and kids.
“She does not know her size and likes to jump up to hug you,” Serena said. “Because of this, she may need a home without younger children she may knock over.
“She never showed interest in jumping over fences, but is pretty adept at digging.”
Baby loves going on long walks and does well on a leash.
She knows how to "shake," "sit" and "stop” and is spayed, vaccinated with DHPP and Bordetella and microchipped.
The adopter will be responsible for getting her rabies vaccine updated.
Baby has tested positive for heartworms and has started the slow kill method of treatment.
She has a 30-day course of antibiotics and will need to stay on a monthly Ivermectin-based heart worm prevention until she can be retested in a year.
Fo-Shizzle-the-cat was brought in by the county and never reclaimed.
“She is still a little mistrusting of people and will need more time and patience to become a friendlier cat,” Serena said.
“While she initially runs from you, she loves head scratches and toys.”
Fo-Shizzle is spayed, partially vaccinated and is pending microchip.
