Trussell named director of Parks and Leisure Services; new hire leaves vacancy on city council.
Updated: Aug 3, 2022
Stephenville’s new director of the city’s Parks and Leisure Services is a familiar face: City councilman Daron Trussell.
City Manager Jason King confirmed on Monday that Trussell has been hired for the position and is set to begin his role on Aug. 15.
“I’m really looking forward to this opportunity to help shape the future of our parks and recreation programs,” Daron told Beneath the Surface News. “This is something I have wanted to take on for a while and I think the timing is right.
“I’m excited to get started and work with our community to develop programs and services they want to see at SPARD.”
Trussell will formally resign from Place 3 on the Stephenville City Council during its monthly meeting on Tuesday.
The council is also expected to call a special election on Nov. 8 to fill Trussell’s unexpired term.
Candidates can begin submitting applications now to run for place 3. The filing deadline is Aug. 25.
