Theatre at Tarleton presents a five-performance run of “Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat” beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Theater in Stephenville.
The show continues with 7:30 p.m. performances Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will also be a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee.
Professor Prudence Jones will direct the National Theatre’s adaptation of the classic children’s book, with Taylor Fambrough playing the titular character.
Matthew Carlton plays Boy, Karly Smith is Sally, Gabe Ramos is Fish, Caroline Bachhofer is Kitten 1, Hope Butler is Kitten 2, Allie Shaffer is Thing 1, Adamaris Serrano is Thing 2 and Jailyn Smith is Mother.
From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat that they have ever met.
With the trickiest of tricks and the craziest of ideas, he is certainly loads of fun.
Not a word has been touched or added to the iconic Dr. Seuss work, ensuring that anyone who's read the story will find themselves transported into the world they've always imagined.
Behind the scenes, Clay Luton is the lighting and scenic designer, Michele Dormaier is the costume designer, Shaffer is hair and makeup designer, Alexis Mackey and Hope Fambrough are sound designers, Turner Laxson is the technical director, Kay Grimstad is the stage manager, and Emily Fox and James Stack are prop masters.
Professor Dan Stone worked in puppet design and construction.
Admission is $10 and $5 for students.
